BERNARD A. DREW

Author, journalist, historian

Bernard A. Drew, an author, journalist, and historian, is the author of more than 30 books including 100 Most Popular Thriller and Suspense Authors (2009), his sixth in a series of reference books for Libraries Unlimited. An avid Berkshire County, MA historian, his books on African American history include If They Close the Door on You, Go in the Window (2004), an overview of the origins of the black community in South Berkshire, and Dr. Du Bois Rebuilds His Dream House (2006), about Du Bois's relationship with his hometown. He has written on topics ranging from electrical inventor William Stanley to the Civilian Conservation Corps.

A graduate of Northeastern University in 1973, Bernard is an associate editor for The Lakeville Journal Company's three weekly newspapers in Lakeville, Conn. He is an "Our Berkshires" columnist for The Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield. He is past president of the Berkshire County and Great Barrington historical societies, served on the founding board of the Upper Housatonic Valley National Heritage Area and is on the steering committee of Friends of the Du Bois Homesite. He is steward of the William Taylor Day Forest Area.
