UMASS AMHERST LIBRARIES ANNOUNCE

EXHIBIT: "10 YEARS OF MASSACHUSETTS BOOK AWARDS"

Amherst, MA - The UMass Amherst Libraries present an exhibit, "10 Years of Massachusetts Book Awards," on the Lower Level of the Du Bois Library, through October 17, 2010.   A reception will be held on September 16, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The exhibit features the prizewinners in several categories across the decade of the Award's existence to date.

The Massachusetts Book Awards recognize important works of Massachusetts fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children's literature published in the previous year.  The Awards are administered by the Massachusetts Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.  UMass Amherst was one of the founding members of the Massachusetts Center for the Book.  Several of the award winners have been local residents and/or faculty members.
