Amherst, MA - On Sunday, October 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Friends of the UMass Amherst Libraries will host the 12th Annual Fall Reception in the Cape Cod Lounge, Student Union, at UMass Amherst. The keynote speaker, Debbie Windoloski, will give a talk, “Reflections on North Hill and its Two Renowned Gardeners.” The program starts at 2:30 p.m.; the event is free and open to the public.
Joe Eck and Wayne Winterrowd were originally scheduled to be the keynote speakers. Sadly, Wayne Winterrowd passed away on September 17. A fund has been created in his memory. For more information: http://bit.ly/Winterrowd.
Debbie Windoloski is a master horticulturist and the owner of Gardenscapes in Hadley, Massachusetts. Gardenscapes is a 1.25 acre garden on her property and the name of her garden design business. Her gardens are registered with the National Wildlife Federation as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat. A frequent speaker at garden clubs, master gardener symposiums, workshops at garden centers, and a guest on local radio shows, Windoloski often volunteers her services to maintain local public garden areas. She is a past vice president of the Amherst Garden Club, an active member of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of several local clubs and organizations.
UMass Catering will provide refreshments. The following books by Joe Eck and Wayne Winterrowd will be available for sale by the University Store: Our Life in Gardens; Elements of Design; Roses: A Celebration.
