Libraries Announce Teaching Commons Opening

TEACHING COMMONS OPENING
Amherst, MA - The UMass Amherst Libraries announce the opening of the Teaching Commons on Wednesday, May 26, 2010. The Libraries will host an Open House for faculty on that day from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Teaching Commons on Floor 26, in the Du Bois Library. The program includes welcoming remarks at 2:30 p.m., followed by discussion and tours of the facility. Refreshments will be served.
The Teaching Commons is a collaboration between the Office of Faculty Development, OIT Academic Computing, and the UMass Amherst Libraries. It is a space for faculty to collaborate or work individually, equipped with computers and presentation equipment, on site assistance and faculty service referrals, comfortable seating, and a fantastic view.
The Teaching Commons hours from May 26 through the summer are Monday to Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and closed on weekends. The fall hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
