LIBRARY ACQUIRES NEW RESEARCH TOOLS
Amherst, MA - The UMass Amherst Libraries now provides access to the following databases, which can be found at http://www.library.umass.edu/. These resources are available to users anywhere with an OIT account and to all walk-in users.
Business Databases
FinancePro is a resource for financial and accounting information located in Books 24x7, an eBook database. Topics include accounting, auditing, credit and loans, economic influences, ethics, investment management, risk management, taxation, and more. Users can browse by titles and by topic, or search by title, author, publisher, etc. or search for titles in the library catalog.
Global Road Warrior is a travel guide with an emphasis on logistics and business etiquette. Searchable subjects include climate, society & culture, business culture, demographics, health/medical, points of interest, technical/internet, transportation, and more.
Plunkett Research Online is a market and industry research database. It includes industry statistics, trends, and in-depth analysis of top companies.
Socrates provides researchers with data on company performance and major initiatives in the areas of human rights, anti-competitive practices, business ethics, employee safety, climate change and non-carbon emissions, effluents and waste. It covers major controversies and corporate policies, and compares companies to their peers in each sector.
Green Databases
Agriculture Collection provides indexing, with some full text, of 400 journals in farming, food, horticulture, and related fields. The collection covers practical aspects of farming to cutting edge scientific research in horticulture between 1980 and 2010.
Environmental Resource Handbook is a directory of groups, places, services, and events useful for environmentalists. Resources include associations, organizations & government agencies, awards & honors, conferences & trade shows, foundations & charities, national parks & wildlife refuges, research centers & educational programs, legal resources and more.
Gardening, Landscaping and Horticulture is a collection of more than 100 journals focused on key issues in gardening, landscaping, and other areas of horticulture.
Plant Management Network provides research material on agricultural and horticultural crops: journal articles, proceedings, reports, and an image-based pest database.
Video Databases
Users can browse or search the video collections by genre, material type, ensembles, roles, venues, and more. Ready-made playlists are available or users can create their own.
Dance in Video consists of web-based video collections of dance performances and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.
Naxos Video Library is a streaming video library of classical music performances, opera, ballet, live concerts, and documentaries.
Opera in Video offers opera stage productions, interviews and documentaries. Selections represent the world’s best performers, conductors, and opera houses and are based on a work’s importance to the operatic canon.
