Government Documents and Patents

The Government Documents Collection receives, processes, and maintains government publications in physical or electronic formats that are distributed through the federal and Massachusetts state depository library programs. Extensive historical collections are available in subject areas such as agriculture, census, education, labor, congressional hearings, annual reports of state agencies, and legislative documents of the Massachusetts General Court. The Government Information Research Guide provides an entry point for researchers to the resources related to government information.

The Patents and Trademarks Collection includes historical patent and trademark indexes, copies of patents and trademarks on CD-ROM, and access to the United States Patent and Trademark Office's PubWest database. The Patents & Trademarks Research Guide provides instructions for searching patents, information on trademarks, and inventor resources.

The Collection is located on the 6th Floor of the W.E.B. Du Bois Library. For questions specifically related to government and patent information call (413) 545-2765.
