Library Express FAQs

The UMass/Amherst Libraries offers a program called Library Express which provides direct delivery of articles and regularly circulating books from the library collections located in the W.E.B. Du Bois Library and in the Integrated Sciences and Engineering Library. There is no fee for this service at this time. It is available to any current or retired faculty or staff and current students on campus or off, near or far.

How can I use the service?

Submit your request as you would any Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery request via the Interlibrary Loan request form.

What Materials are not eligible for this service?

We will not deliver media (CDs, DVDs or Microfilm/fiche) normally non-circulating materials such as those designated as "Reference" or materials from Reserve at this time. Articles exceeding 50 pages will be scanned and delivered at the discretion of the ILL/DD staff. (Workload and technology limitations allowing).

How will I receive my books?
Off campus users will receive delivery via USPS Priority Mail with signature needed for delivery. You will be responsible for returning this item to circulation services by the due date indicated and for ensuring that the material is returned to us safely. We recommend using a traceable method of return to guarantee safe delivery. A mailing label is enclosed for your convenience.

Users with local address will have their books retrieved and placed on the Circulation hold shelf for pick-up. We do not offer on-campus delivery at this time.

How will I receive my copies?
Copies of articles, book chapters or other pages will be delivered to you electronically if possible. Articles exceeding 50 pages will be scanned and delivered at the discretion of the ILL/DD staff. (Workload and technology limitations allowing).

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments about this service.
